Basic Setups – Glove Side Load/Recover

– Most important *Skate blade of drive leg is straight with
direction goalie wants to push*
If blade is off-angle, the goalie will have a weak push
and possibly in the wrong direction
– Stick off pads to limit interference and allow rebound control
– Hands in front of body
– Lead leg weight over knees
– Limit hand use for momentum
– Quiet upper-body, let the legs to the work

Forward Skating – C-Cut – Blocker

– Only one leg will C-Cut
– Skating stride used to work on edge control
– Drive foot – toe points outwards
– draw a big “C”
– drive heel into ice when coming back to set
– the louder the better!
**Make sure goalie stays in a “seated stance” and avoids “bobbing”
(bobbing is when the goalie loses their seated position
and you can see their head “bob” up and down)
